RightMove Recruitment are now hiring for a Transport Manager for a well established Freight company in Dublin.

The Branch Transport Operations Manager will take overall responsibility for Network and Linehaul, Collection and Distribution (CoDi) and Road Brokerage Departments and Functions within the Branch.

The purpose of the role is to manage, develop and lead a customer focused Operational Team in providing effective and efficient handling of all shipments, in accordance with organisational policies and procedures, best practice/industry standards, compliance with relevant local, country and international laws and processes; and ensuring the team achieves/maximises Branch Gross Profit, quality and KPI Targets.

Responsibilities

To ensure the team provides the effective and efficient management of export/import shipments for all our customers to/from global destinations, ensuring they are tracked, monitored and invoiced correctly to the customer, and managed in accordance with best practice/industry standards, organisational policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with relevant local, country and international laws and processes.

To effectively manage the operational team and team members to ensure Gross Profit targets are achieved/maximised.

To be fully responsible and accountable for the day-to-day management and leadership of the operational team, to achieve short- and medium-term growth and profitability targets for their team, including building performance through excellent people management and leadership skills and practices.

To ensure the retention and growth of customers through delivery of operational and customer excellence within their team.

Promotes, monitors, and maintains best practice in Health, Safety, Quality and Security with their Team(s).

To ensure all work within their team is undertaken in compliance with legislation, industry standards, customs compliance regulations, and Company policies and procedures/SOPS, including updates, throughout the Branch, and ensure that any audits/spot checks that are required are appropriately supported and actions are followed up and completed within the deadlines provided.

Identifies, develops and implements, following review with their line manager, interventions/activities/process and procedure changes to the operational delivery of their team, in order to develop operational and customer excellence and to incorporate changes arising from policy, legislative and industry changes.

Qualifications

Approx. 3-4 years relevant freight forwarding experience – strong operational and industry knowledge

Proven people management skills

Computer literate with intermediate level of Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

Strong communication (oral and written), influencing and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels

Excellent customer service skills

Confidentiality and discretion

Good numeracy and commercial acumen
